2.2 Smart Building implementation

Kasetsart University renovated buildings into ‘Smart Building’ by using Building Automation System (BAS). The BAS will automatically control air conditioning, lighting, fire control, access control, security andelevator control system.

Building Automation System (BAS)

Light, temperature, humidity automatic control system

Fire alarm automatic control system

On-off switching censor and automatic door system

Finger print scanning access system with identification card.

Automatic fire engine system runs by gasoline/diesel.

There is a camera circuit is installed to measure the temperature

before entering class with a processing screen temperature monitor at Lecture Hall 2 and 3

Faculty of Liberal Arts and Science

There is camera surveillance systems, Fingerprint scanning, and fire extinguishing system covered of 7 buildings.

Show the electrical layout plan of the instructional media in the classroom.

Electrical consumption management via the Internet of Things application.

Summarize the analysis of the use of the suitable model for the task.

For teaching arrangement of the Faculty of Sports Science will specify a request to use as a semester’s teaching schedule. It will be using the suitable mode for the task of operating the control through the application. It will use a scheduler timer (on-off) and requested to use the room during off-hours or off-schedule. It would be appropriate to use the control function through the application or remote control.

Be able to control a smartphone by connected via the application. To Turning on/off the light by pressing the On/Off button in the application.

Summary and analysis of the operation in the management of electricity consumption through the Internet of Things Application. Using the mode on — off the device.

  • Cut the loss from standby teaching equipment of the Faculty of Sports Science which are audio equipment, microphones, computers, projectors, 3D projectors, visualizers. To compare to a minimum loss of 4 kWh per year per device, if the electricity cost is about 5.859 baht, expected that (4 is the minimum loss hours per year) x (5 is the number of devices used) x (5.859 is the electricity bill about 5.859 baht at the Faculty of Sports Science). It will reduce the lost expenses by 117.18 baht per year (this is an estimated number).
  • The operation of using electrical energy resources is valuable and efficient, when not in use, we turn it off.
  • Increase the safety of using electricity by applying technology to control usage.

Motion detector on the wall

Automatically, it will turn on the light when someone or an object moves into the detection radius. It comforts and does not use people to turn on and off the light. There is a convenient installation and easy to use with a 180° detection angle. It can be installed at the entrance door, corridor, and bathroom. The delay time can be adjusted to a minimum of 10 seconds, a maximum of 12 minutes installed at four restrooms in the Faculty of Sports Science.

Kamphaeng Saen Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has a smart building area located in the school building area and operates a veterinary education clinic, on the 3rd floor (Building B). It has 13 smart building classrooms, with a total living space of 1,118 square meters. The application will be to book online classes via Smart ClassRooms system (http://cpe.eng.kps.ku.ac.th/smartRooms/vet/private/GUI_userprofile.php) for enabling automatic classrooms such as doors, air conditioning, and electric lighting.

Procedures

1. Users can book online classes via Smart ClassRooms by clicking on the class number, date and time of use.

2. Administer the classroom approval system.

3. Bookers can scan the QR code 15 minutes before the time to access the classroom, with the front door, electrical system and air conditioning system automatically turning on the tablet for specifying the status of using Classroom.

4. When the classroom is retired at the time reserved, the door system, electricity, and air conditioning will automatically turn off.

Electrical and air systems are operated through control devices. The temperature cannot be turned on, off, or adjusted.

The air conditioning and electric door system control device serves to automatically turn on and off.

According to Kasetsart University’s announcement, energy conservation policy has been  established as guidelines for all departments within the University for the efficient use of electricity, which is the main energy source in the operation of the university’s activities.

Various measures are determined, such as the design of the new construction with the objective of being a smart building. It is important the building is fully responsive to the user.

Selecting the right technology for users is based on three principles: economic value. Social needs and environmentally friendly, Therefore, it can be regarded as a properly designed

smart building. To meet the needs of users more conveniently And it can be maintained well

and is very efficient. To keep up with the rapid changes in technology and the environment today.

In the post pandemic time @ ku

Kasetsart University construct and renovate buildings and infrastructures with focus on indoor functionality to make buildings more efficient. To provide building occupants with a good quality of life, good health, safe including design workspace for inspiration comfort and accessibility for all workers, all ages, including people with disabilities by designing the space inside and outside the building to feel comfortable by connecting life and environment. There is space to relax from work, various areas according to the needs of the use and taking into account the level of privacy of users.
