Cyber Security and Privacy

In the Post-Pandemic @ KU

Cyber Security and Privacy: After COVID-19 pandemic, Kasetsart University has adapted and changed its teaching and learning style to be in line with the situation by requiring online and on-site classes, teaching and exams. Rapid technological advancements have led to large-scale integration of computer technology. Communications are at the heart of the advancements made in transportation, manufacturing, healthcare, utilities, recreation, social, and others. Sharing information between services can threaten many aspects of personal freedom. Meanwhile, the ubiquity of the Internet has resulted in people stealing personal information such as credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, etc.

The use of attack-detection systems for preventive surveillance and intrusion surveillance, strengthening cybersecurity communities and cyber privacy by sharing knowledge and practices between separate communities such as encryption, computer security, network security, information theory, signal processing, game theory communication theory, and machine learning/data mining, developing knowledge about the domains of cybersecurity and applications, and creating greater confidence in computing applications.

Transforming sustainable in KU: Society and Policy Issues

The Chongrak KULAM-B1 online exam room is an innovative development of education and online teaching from the KU learn system to the development of the KULAM (Learning Assessment Management) online exam system located at the 1st floor of the study center building, Kasetsart Bangkhen University. It has a room capacity of 140 exam seats. It can be fully implemented with the network contract and integration of the Computer Services Bureau, Office of Education Administration, Fleet, Buildings and Premises, Kasetsart University. The company is scheduled to open from March 1, 2022 onwards, every day from 8.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. to facilitate students, in response to the policy of advancing new innovations in teaching and learning development and online exams using walk-in exam methods. You can take the exam when you are ready. It has established a system of online instruction and exams in the basic and central service subjects of Kasetsart University with a large number of learners and expanded to the campus of Kasetsart University. The pilot faculty, namely the Faculty of Science, The Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Business Administration, which provides online instruction in a format developed from the program in advance, or if any of the subjects are offered online and wish to provide opportunities for students who have already studied the course and have already completed an F or have a ready library of exams, can also use the online exam room. Therefore, the renovation of the Walk-in Exam online exam room is considered an important step. Students can study and take exams when they are ready under the principle of ‘study without waiting for a round, take exams without waiting for anyone’.

Online test preparation practice with BR-Mode, Basic Rear Camera

Instructional model with BR-Mode, Basic Rear Camera

Device (1) is a mobile device that students use every day by accessing Zoom or Webex or otherwise as required by each subject. Turn on the camera to visualize yourself while sitting for the exam and;

Device (2) includes computers or iPads that are already using online classes to take exams, provided that the device does not have to turn on the camera and does not require Zoom or Webex access.

If a student has one mobile phone, no other computer, no iPad, they must urgently contact the course coordinator to proceed with the details, and if there is not enough or running out of internet issues, students must fill out this form to obtain a SIM from the university’s support.

Recommendations for lecturers and departments to administer the exam

* This content is a guideline only, not a regulation. There are many methods of measuring exams, so each subject can be applied in accordance with complaints from students and parents about exam fraud. The unfairness of exams due to not turning on the cameras, must be considered in line with the suffering of students during the COVID-19 crisis. *

** Enforcing a single device, such as turning on a notebook camera instead of using a camera from a phone, according to the survey. Most students have mobile phones, but there are many students who use computers or old notebooks that don’t have a front camera or webcam. Therefore, allowing students to use a single device and then turn on the front camera only creates more difficulties for the students, and more importantly, the use of the front camera does not help to achieve fairness in the exam, since the images obtained from the front camera cannot see what the test takers are doing**.

*** Conduct a student readiness survey prior to the exam to determine if any student has only one mobile phone and no other computer at all. Continue to find ways to help with faculty and universities, as having only one mobile phone is not a problem with exams, but also results in studying and working on assignments.***

Online Second Entry

Students enter the online exam room at least 20 minutes before the actual exam, as they may be required to take the test before the exam and have their identity verified before the exam. If you arrive at the exam room later than the specified time limit, the exam must be taken. You’re wasting your time on the actual exams. Each exam is scheduled for each subject to be examined in detail in the teaching notice of the exam of the subject they are enrolled in.

Online @ Home exam

If the university is closed due to the COVID-19 crisis and cannot be entered in a room provided by the university. The instructor may arrange the exam (follow up with the instructor’s announcement) at the originally scheduled time by preparing all the equipment. There are 2 required devices:

  1. 1. Mobile phone: Install a Zoom Cloud Meeting (or Webex Meeting, whichever is required) for live broadcasts, set in a position where you can get a picture of yourself from the front camera while sitting on the exam as shown in the example, setting the camera 1 foot above the head, indentation to the left or right side to see the screen and what will appear from the test taker writing on paper.

How to enter ZOOM for proctoring https://askme.ku.th/support/solutions/articles/60000706069

  1. 2. Desktop computers or laptops or iPads or Tablets (Recommend devices with large monitors to see comfortably, and the proctor can see what they are doing with the screen. Mobile phones are available if necessary and permitted by the subject instructor on a case-by-case basis.
    • If a student has a single mobile phone, no computer, no iPad, or is unable to borrow a phone or device from a parent or family member to use during the exam, immediately inform the subject teacher to find a way to help. If students have one mobile phone, they will have problems with studying, doing homework, doing online assignments.
    • See the link to Zoom from the subject announcement (each link may not be the same, so read only from the instructor’s announcement. It shouldn’t be copied directly from a friend.)
    • Before entering Zoom, name the student ID, surname, such as 6219283443, Somchai Luklean. If there is a word to allow Host to turn off the microphone displayed, students press the allow button (Allow host to unmute).
    • Plug in the charger or use the Power Bank to plug it in with your live phone so that the camera doesn’t turn off by itself while the exam may mislead the examiner into thinking that you turned off the camera.
